366ha. Found off Marine Drive, Summerstrand. One of the best bird-watching venues in PE.
Offers beautiful beach, natural dune vegetation of fynbos, rocky outcrops, view birdlife
from bird hide, small animals (look out for otters), 133 year old lighthouse, World War II
military observation post. The Roseate Tern Hiking Trail is 9km, circular and starts at
the entrance of the Reserve

Valley
A family delight as you wander through a fairytale and nursery rhyme setting surrounded by
lily ponds, rockeries, palms and lawns. At nightfall the valley lights up with coloured
lights. Connected to Humewood beach via a sandy subway. Giant chess board on the lawn
awaits the chess enthusiast.
Havelock Square and Nelson Square
Rose Garden
Well preserved, attractive and historical area. Havelock Square (Havelock Street) and
Nelson Square Rose Garden (Pearson Street) boasts a cobble stone look with pedestrian
areas and beautiful landscaping. A wide variety of roses, large lawn, trees and park
benches.
Settler's
Park and Guinea Fowl Hiking Trail
54ha. Found along the banks of the Baakens River and accessed from the 3rd Avenue dip
(Newton Park). Abundant birdlife, indigenous flora and fauna includes small buck. A flower
display house, a maquette of the 1820 Settlers' Statue, rock pools and grassed areas for
picnicking. The Guinea Fowl Trail is 8km winding through the Baakens River Valley.
Wildflowers and water lillies. Dassies, leguaans, tortoises and lizards. Loved by birdlife
enthusiasts. Trail is not a circular one therefore collection arrangements should
be made.
St
George's Park
73ha. Found in Central. Oldest park in Port Elizabeth. Home to the Port Elizabeth Cricket
Club (the founder cricket club in South Africa), the oldest bowling green in South Africa
called "Founders Green", the 1882 Victorian Pearson Conservatory, the Prince
Alfred's Guard Memorial and the St. George's Park Swimming Pool. Childrens' playground as
well. First Sunday of each month sees a flea market with its' art & craft stalls open
to everyone.
Victoria
Park
Found in Victoria Park Drive. Beautiful and peaceful. Landscaped gardens, water-lily
ponds, stone bridges, a thatched gazebo, large lawns and shady trees. Ideal for a picnic,
quiet stroll or bird-watching. |
